Whether you plan to spend the night in New York City or just want to spend a day admiring its architectural history, the Big Apple offers extensive sightseeing opportunities for every audience. New York, as home to a variety of famous hotels, is like a living diarama of architectural history. Early in the 20th Century, a number of wealthy businessmen competed with one another by building luxury hotels and employing the latest and greatest in architecture to design them. Their rivalries have left us with buildings like the the Park Central New York, and the Jumeirah Essex House on Central Park. Perhaps the most famous, however, is the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on Park Avenue.

The Waldorf-Astoria, an Art Deco behemoth that occupies an entire city block and is walking distance from Rockefeller Center, is actually this franchise’s second home; The original building was demolished in order to build the Empire State Building. Both the interior and exterior exude the luxury its first creators desired, and it seems as though every interior surface is covered with fine stone or delicately carved wood, shining chandeliers, and vintage-looking furniture. The marquee outside, sporting the hotel’s name with its trademanrk ‘double hyphen,’ is the quintessential Art Deco creation: sleek geometric shapes alternate with long, rigid curves, creating a precise and professional look. In short, both the architecture buff and family of four alike have much to learn from the varied and captivating architecture of New York City’s hotels. The city lends itself to sightseeing, and the historic hotels seemingly on ever corner are not to be missed.Can-t get enough? There-s more: Halisbury Building in Chancery Lane

New York is a great place to visit it is filled with some of the nicest hotels but unfortunately there are some bad ones in the bunch. If you plan on going to New York and staying at a hotel some should definitely be avoided. Here is a list of the worst hotels in New York.
1. Hotel Carter
This hotel is known to be the dirtiest hotel in the U.S. People have said that they see rats running across the floor, the lobby smells, and the sheets and bathtub had bug in them. No one should stay in such disgusting conditions.
2. The New York Inn
Another horrible hotel in New York. It is dirty and filled with vermin. Not only is it dirty but the service is also terrible.
3. Ramada Plaza Hotel JFK Airport
This is a place that many people stay at because of a cancelled flight. The sheets are dirty and the staff is unfriendly. Very dirty rooms.
Overall if you want to stay at a hotel don-t stay at one of these unless you want to sleep in filth and be eaten by bed bugs. It is best to have some extra cash to spend on a good hotel.
